Reference Letter from PEREZ & PEREZ Architects and Planners:
Our firm, Perez & Perez Architects Planners, Inc. had the good fortune of working with C&ID, Miguel Estivill, and C&ID's outstanding team during the construction of the Miami International Airport Metrorail Station at the Miami Intermodal Center.
As Architect of Record for the Station, the process of design had begun in 2005 working with MDT, FDOT, and other Miami Dade County agencies. As the first elevated station to be constructed in 30 years, this unique structure was embraced by Miami Dade County as representative of a new generation of station design and as the first keynote transit project under the Miami Dade County People’s Transportation Plan. The project has also won numerous national and local design awards, from the AIA/American Institute of Architects, SARA/Society of Registered Architects, and has been recognized globally by ENR/Engineering News Record.
When construction began in 2009, the burden of this highly considered and publicly viewed project was on the shoulders of C&ID to successfully execute. Adding to this pressure was the complexity of the project: 11 different architectural concrete bent structures that required coordination with a computer generated/twisted canopy structure fabricated in Kansas City, as well as a four level station with two distinct entrances.
C&ID met the challenge and masterfully executed the project. The exposed architectural concrete work is impeccable. C&ID also passionately dedicated the time to carefully build; it can truly be stated that this project was a labor of love.
In the end the project was completed on time and met the great expectations of all parties: MDT, FDOT, P&P, and the citizens of Miami Dade County. Because of this demonstrated effort, level of expertise and professionalism, and final execution, please accept my highest recommendation of Classical & Innovation Design Inc.
